Foreword
I should like to say a few words to all our faithful customers, suppliers,
employees and anyone else who has come to our homepage. Taale Transport
BV celebrates its sixtieth anniversary this year, a fact of which
we are justly proud. We are therefore delighted to have the opportunity
to present our company profile in this original manner. Since the
very first beginning we have been a haulage company and over the years
we have introduced various specialists services which we should like
to present to you in this web-site. In our market changes happen rapidly
and to this day we have always been able to respond promptly and will
continue to do so in the future. |

The
first customers
On 1 august 1937 Grandfather JJ Taale started a small one-man business,
JJ Taale, the forerunner of the company which was to become very successful,
Taale Transport BV. Driving a second hand model T Ford he carried
unions from the auction to the ferry, earning 1 cent per bag. Shortly
afterwards the Kroos and Dijkers company asked Taale if he would transport
the materials required for building a water tunnel. Unfortunately,

when
the war broke out, the Model T Ford was confiscated and all activities
came to a standstill. Not to be deterred, however in 1945 Taale picked
up where he had left off contacts where established with Esselink
which have continued to this day. |

 Steady
growth
With business growing steadily turnover increased and in 1950 Taale
was in a position to take on the first employees. Three years later
terrible storms and floods devastated the everyday lives of many people
in Zeeland and the surrounding provinces. However, almost straight
away the Taale team managed to build the company back up again by
responding to the desperate need to rebuild homes in the region. As
the only haulage company around the firm began to transport building
materials required for the rebuilding programme. During this period
the two sons of founder JJ Taale also became involved in the company,
one of whom was JJ Taale, the current Managing Director, now JJ Taale,
the current Managing Director, now JJ Taale Sr. In 1958 it was decided
to convert the one-man business, which had become very successful
by now, into a partnership firm. |
 Finally
Business
grew as the years progressed. In 1992 Taale Transport BV built a customs
shed on its premises which meant that goods could now be stored under
custom supervision, enabling the company to extend its range of services.
More streamlining followed with
the introduction of ISO standards within the company. In 1993 Taale
Transport BV was successful in gaining ISO 9002 certification which
now proved the efficiency of the Taale Transport BV organisation in
black and white. In 1994 M Taale Transport BV retired from the organisation.
JJ Taale Sr continued as the managing Director and his son J Taale
Jr became a shareholder in the company which by now had built up a
very high reputation. In the following chapters father and son will
take you through the succ-essfull developments and activities within
the company which continue today. |
Broad
base
Today Taale Transport BV is one of the larger haulage companies in
the region and the company targets services. With an enthusiastic
staff of 32, 25 of whom are drivers, our main target areas are the
Port of Rotterdam and the construction industry in the Netherlands
and suppliers for the steel, copper, zinc and aluminium industry all
Europe. |

 Our
own or contracted transport
We
not only transport shipments using our own transport (50%) but we
also put shipments out to contract (50%). The latter is known as
forwarding and we may put national as well as international shipments
out to contract. We decide whether to use our own transport or put
the shipments out to contract depending on the size of the order
and the price. In both cases we look after planning the shipment
and the administrative side of the order and the customer need not
do anything other than trust that everything will go according to
his wishes and as we have agreed with him. Incidentally, our clients
have known for years that Taale Transport BV stands for accuracy
and they kept informed about everything concerning their shipments
honestly and immediately. It may be clear that this is one of the
reasons why we have a large base of regular customers who have known
for years where to find us.

 Storage
and transhipment
Another important company activity is storage and transhipment or
in other words the loading and unloading of lorries on our own premises,
the loading and unloading of containers using our own crane and storage
of goods on location (bulk cargoes from 1kg to 30 tonnes). This type
of service is another example of the support we give to our customers
by taking work off their hands. |
Just
that little bit extra
By investing continuously in modern and useful equipment such as a
container crane we are not just in a position to serve our customers
but we are able to offer specialist services which make us stand out
in the market. We attach great importance to the fact that Taale never
says no but is always prepared to do the utmost to accommodate the
requirements of its customers which are not always directly related
to transport. Another example of an activity which has grown this
way is our offer of an activity which has grown this way is our offer
of a complete package , whereby Taale Transport is responsible for
all the intermediate stages of shipping goods between places, such
as transhipment, packaging, unpacking and/or re-packing of shipments,
as well as goods clearance. Word of mouth recommendation of our service
oriented approach has made our company renowned, particularly in the
port of Rotterdam. Furthermore, we are easily recognisable by our
company name; it is proudly displayed on all our equipment and materials,
from lorries to writing paper. Our renown is spreading and all of
us want to keep it that way and remain true to our company philosophy,
which is mentioned above. |

 Quality
By gaining the ISO 9002 certificate we have proved that we attach
the highest priority to the quality of our organisation. Information
on every stage of each shipment is kept up to date and checked in
accordance with ISO standards. As one of the few haulage companies
on the island of Overflakkee who have been awarded this certificate
Taale Transport has shown that it is looking ahead. We are always
aware for the customer as well for as the
organisation

Cooperation
with other hauliers
We are looking to expand even further in the future to enable us to
stay ahead of rising haulage companies in for instance the former
Eastern Block countries. In October 1997 we established a Taale Transport
BV agency in Hungary. From now on it will be possible to plan shipments
even more efficiently; in particular return shipments from Hungary
are very important for Taale Transport BV because no less than 95%
of these cargoes are transhipped at Taale Op-en Overslag BV. Many
of these cargoes are then shipped by container to England and Ireland.
Taale Transport BV is looking ahead and has opted for cooperation
with other hauliers in a joint scheme for expanding product and service
ranges, without losing the company's own identity. |
